Hans Peter Kuhn's sound and video installation "Drehung" is a testament to a world in constant motion. A world that knows no beginning or end, no pur- pose and no aim, but no stagnation or rest either. "Everything is flowing, al- ways". This piece consists of four different film sequences featuring a very slow camera movement over abstract urban and rural motifs. These imag- es are shown on four monitors embedded in a wall. Observation slits, whose forms recall those of temperature curves, prevent the viewer from seeing the entire images at once however. In addition, the films are always shown one after another, but with a slight delay between them, thus creating the impression of a very slow but permanent rotation in one direction. Kuhn also applies this principle to the sound composition, wherein several equi- distant loudspeakers affixed to the walls around the entire perimeter proj- ect a composition whose sounds revolve around the exhibition visitor at the same speed as that of the films.
