Video Installation Königslutter Cathedral, Königslutter (DE) Dimension: 160 cm x 90 cm Stone, video projector, media player
The request was to create an artwork with or around a very specific stone that is found in that area and from which the 800 year old cathedral was built.
My concept is to take a slap of that stone (in the ratio of HD video 16x9) and take a picture of it. Then make a gaussian blur crossing the view in different pattern. This film - which then will be played back forward, backwards and with different direction changes - is projected on the stone, once the stone is in an upright position. It shall be placed in the cloyster of the cathedral.
So the film of the stone is projected on the stone but with a shifting focus. The effect is that wherever the focus is the surface of the stone looks very 3D, any little bump or whole really looks deep but where the focus if off the stone' surface looks very flat.
